Disadvantages of Tesla Cars

As you have seen, there are tons of reasons to consider before purchasing an electric vehicle. However, it’s important to be aware that there are also drawbacks to choosing an electric car. Make sure you read about and understand the cons before you choose to own an electric car.

• Charging a Tesla Can Take a Lot of Time

When you pull into a gas station and fill up your fuel tank, it takes only a few minutes before you pay and drive off . This is not same with a Tesla Car that takes much longer to recharge, and the time investment put some people off. Many electric car batteries can be full in around four hours, but some batteries can take nearly a whole day to recharge fully

Although, there are some kits that can reduce the charging time of a Tesla but at an additional cost.

• Charging Stations Aren’t Available Everywhere

There are charging stations evenly distributed in large cities in the US, North America, parts of Europe, Asia and Australia. These are also the places where these cars can be used or driven.

Furthermore, within these locations Tesla cars / EV Charging stations are sparsely distributor, thus, when you take off on a road trip or visit family and friends in Suburban or rural area it may be harder to find a charging station. Thankfully, this problem is slowly being phased out as electric cars become more popular and are evolving rapidly.

However, if you still want to go for a Tesla you may need  to take a look at charging station maps where you live and where you often go to, so you can make sure that you’ll be able to charge your new Tesla when you need to.

• Some Tesla and EVs Have Short Driving distances

The distance you will cover with a fully charged electric vehicle  is something that needs to be considered and may not be appropriate for those with longer commutes. Tesla Cars can only travel between 100km to 160km while newer editions of Tesla Cars can travel up to 480km on a single full charge.

This is one of the major issues that consumers have to think about when deciding between a conventional and electric cars.

• Lower Amount of Choices in getting EVs

Tesla and other EV are rapidly growing in the Markets today than it ever has before, with no signs of slowing down. However, the truth of the matter is that there are fewer ways to customize and choose the aesthetics of your EV. This is especially true when you consider the huge amount of customization available with traditional cars. This would likely change as time goes on but for now many people sees it as a disadvantage.
